Make a slightly sweet and perfectly spiced loaf of Cinnamon Raisin Bread easily in your bread machine with this super simple recipe. 

Full of juicy raisins and just enough cinnamon for a warming hit that is a perfect loaf for snacking or breakfast toast.

And best of all it only takes a couple of minutes to toss everything into your machine for hands-off ease and delicious homemade bread.

Want it Sweeter?

You could add more sugar to this recipe, if desired. I used just ¼ cup of sugar because the raisins add their own sweetness, however you could easily increase it to ½ cup for something much sweeter. 

You could also use brown sugar instead of white sugar, if desired.

Raisins or Other Dried Fruit

I went with basic dark raisins here because I always have those on hand. However, you could use golden raisins instead. You could also use dried currants or craisins if preferred. 

Cinnamon and Yeast

Cinnamon can impact yeast growth when added directly to the bread dough as it is in this recipe.

I tested this recipe several times and the ratio of yeast to the rest of the ingredients does produce a sufficiently light and high loaf. Admittedly, it’s a bit less of a rise than other white bread recipes I’ve made in my machine but not so much as to matter in my opinion.

Crust Color

Because of the cinnamon the crust will get a bit darker than usual. For us this isn’t a problem, but you may want to choose a light crust color if you’re worried about people in your family thinking it is too dark or burnt. 

Yeast Choices

I use instant yeast for ease in all the bread machine recipes I test. If you want to use active dry yeast or bread machine yeast, simply follow your manufacturer’s instructions but I can’t say for certainty in what amount.

To Prevent Sticking

I had multiple loaves become hopelessly stuck to my bread pan and had to learn a trick or two to prevent it. Here’s what I do, if you’d like to try it:

After the last kneading cycle (for my machine there’s a 2 second third cycle of punching down), I remove the bread dough quickly from the machine, remove the kneading paddle and then spray the pan with some non-stick spray. Then I put the dough back in, close the lid and let the machine finish rising and baking.

I use needle nose pliers to remove the paddle.

This very simple step has stopped bread from sticking to the paddle hopelessly and coming out of the pan a broken mess.

My bread machine instructions do not tell me that this is necessary – meaning the bread could be baked with the paddle attached but I found it much easier to remove the paddle.

About My Bread Machine

This recipe was tested on a Welbilt Bread Machine. I bought it at a thrift store for $6.50. It makes great bread but every machine is different. Please follow any specific instructions provided with your machine if they differ from how this recipe is written.

How to Serve

Keep this simple, there’s no reason to get fancy here. A slice of cinnamon raisin bread either toasted or plain, slathered in butter makes a great snack or breakfast item.

Slices spread with cream cheese or peanut butter are also delicious and filling. 

Definitely consider using cinnamon bread for your french toast when you want to make that. 

How to Store

Keep any leftover homemade bread stored in an airtight container where it should stay fresh for up to 4 days at room temperature.

For longer term storage, put either the loaf or slices in a freezer bag or wrap in plastic wrap and freeze.

Thaw on the counter before serving or simply toast frozen slices

For best results, use up any frozen bread within 6 months for best flavor and to prevent freezer burn.

Bread Machine Cinnamon Raisin Bread

Yield: 1 - Two Pound Loaf
Prep Time: 15 minutes
Cook Time: 3 hours 30 minutes
Total Time: 3 hours 45 minutes

Sweet, spicy, and full of raisin bits this is the perfect loaf of comforting and delicious bread for breakfast and beyond.

Ingredients

  • 1 ½ Cup Water
  • 2 Tablespoons Melted Butter
  • 2 Tablespoons Powdered Milk
  • 2 teaspoons Salt
  • ¼ Cup Sugar
  • 1 teaspoon Cinnamon
  • 4 Cups Bread Flour
  • 1 1/4 teaspoons Instant Yeast
  • 1 Cup Raisins

Instructions

  1. Place all the ingredients, except the raisins, in the machine bread pan in the order written (or as directed by your machine's instructions). Usually liquid ingredients are followed by salt and the dry ingredients with the yeast being added last on top of the flour, but again follow your bread machine manual for best results.
  2. Put the bread machine pan in the bread maker and close the lid.
  3. Select the basic dough cycle. Select medium crust (or desired crust color). Use a 2-pound loaf setting.
  4. Press Start.
  5. Towards the end of the second kneading cycle, or when prompted by your machine (my bread maker beeps), add the raisins to the loaf pan. 
  6. Let the machine finish the kneading and baking process.
  7. When done, remove the bread pan from the machine, run a butter knife around the sides of the loaf pan. Using oven mitts, turn pan upside down and gently shake to remove bread from pan and let bread cool to room temperature on a wire rack before slicing.
